Yes ,obviously ....coz it is a reflex of deep inhalation and exhalation associated with being tired, with a need to sleep, or from lack of stimulation. Pandiculation is the term for the act of stretching and yawning. Yawning is a powerful non-verbal message with several possible meanings, depending on the circumstances. It is also claimed to help increase the state of alertness of a person. The exact causes of yawning are still unknown.
A more recent hypothesis is that yawning is used for regulation of body temperature.

Most of the answers are good, but may need more explaining.
"we yawn due to lack of oxygen"
Yes.
when we are feeling sleepy and we yawn do we lack oxygen?
Yes.
We are tired and cannot breath properly we feel sleepy (or drowsy or dizzy).
Why do we feel dizzy if we try to fight off our sleep?
Dizziness is a direct result of oxygen deprivation in this case. When we are sleepy but fight the condition we are not able to bread properly.Dizzy or drowsy or sleepy are all very similar or even same conditions.

When we're sleepy and tired, we breathe less often (that's why when someone's sleeping they breathe slowly and deeply) but if we're tired and still awake, we breathe too slowly and we yawn to "catch up."
The oxygen issue is also why we feel dizzy.

Not everyone yawn when they feel sleepy. Yawn is reflex secondary to lake of oxygen. When your brain become hypoxic, it needs oxygen.

that is an interesting question, i'm not entirely sure, but i'm pretty sure yawning isn't due to lack of oyxgen, but if it is then yes, that would mean when we are tired we lack ouxgen.
