I do not ovulate regularly (every four months) and my husband and I really want to conceive. My doctor prescribed Clomid 50mg and said that people usually become pregnant within 3 cycles. I just wanted to know about some real life stories and if Clomid resulted in multiple births for anyone here?

I got pregnant with my son- 22 years ago with Clomid. I also used the basal temperature system to track my ovulation time (you can use kits for that now) and tried to abstain a few days before ovulation. It took 5 cycles to become pregnant. Only ONE baby! :)
As an aside, I also had bad cramps when I got my periods onthe Clomid.
Good luck to you!

I was on Clomid for 5 cycles and it didn't work for me. If you are just seeing your OB-GYN right now, then continue with it for the three cycles. Then make an appointment to see a Fertility Specialist. You need to find out why your periods are irregular. You could have a more serious problem. Just keep in mind that a Specialist will try more treatments and all fertility treatments run the risk of multiple births. But for those of us who have tried for years, mutliple babies would be just fine. Good Luck

The office manager at one of my old doctor's offices got pregnant with her son (Now 16) after just one cycle. There was a lady on the news last year, however that was only on for 1 cycle and had 4 babies.
