Plate boundaries are already broken plates. When pressure exceeds the limit what the boundaries of the tectonic plate friction can with stands it slips. If you want to happen the quake in other places the plate must be week and brittle than the friction at boundary ends.Simply saying the weakest point give way first when the pressure is applied on tectonic plates due to the movement of tech tonic plates because of convection of heat. The same is the reason for volcano also.

When 2 plates move relative to each other, they sometimes "stick" on each other. The force builds and when there is enough force, the plates "unsticks" - THAT is the earthquake. That is only going to happen at the edge of a plate.
BUT - the shock IS transmitted around the world. There are 2 types of shock wave - P (as in PUSH) waves can travel in relatively straight lines - even through the liquid core of the earth. The other type of wave is an S wave (a lateral wave), that can NOT travel through the liqid core, but is trasmitted round the world, though solid material.

because an earthquake is a sudden move of the two plates with respect to each other. They push together at an angle for a long time the pressue builds and then it gets too much and there is the earthquake and it starts over again with the two plats in a diffeent position.
there arent many earthquakes elsewhere as there are less forces causing the plates to split there
