Yes, when it comes to the saftey of your unborn child the doctor will not hesitate to make sure he/she will be safe. If the doctors know that that child is safe now then they will not wait, due to it may harm the child. When I was pregnant, they had to induce me. The had already had my date of inducement, but when I went to the hospital for a nonstress test, they decided to induce me eariler. The doctor said that since my daughter was okay and still safe that they will go ahead and take her, instead of waiting 2 days till the actual inducement date, because of the fact that something could possibly go wrong.
So yes, they will go ahead and induce you for the safety of your child and yourself.
Good luck and God bless.

You're 37 weeks. How long have you had gestational diabetes? What are you calling high blood sugars?
You can be induced for gestational diabetes, especially this far along, but as long as the baby is healthy, they probably won't.
What should happen after delivery is that they should keep a close watch on the baby's blood sugar for about 8 -12 hours. Checking it soon after birth, and then before the next few feedings. A normal, or acceptable blood sugar is above 40. babies of moms with diabetes can run a low blood sugar since their pancreas is used to producing higher levels of insulin to counteract the higher glucose that is coming to the baby from mom through the placenta.
Yes, diabetic progenies do tend to be bigger, but again, the OB should be able to give you a good estimate of the baby's weight.
Good luck with the remainder of your pregnancy, and love the stuffin's out of that little one once he or she gets here! :-)

Having gestational diabetes means you could have a large baby (macrosomia) if your blood sugar remains high. So how high is high? (Try to stay under 180, under 150 would be best.)You don't give a specific number. Your baby could be born with low blood sugar, he'll produce more insulin to try and keep his blood sugar normal because you're sending too much sugar his way.
Pay careful attention to fetal movement. Keep a record. HIGH blood sugars can cause fetal death. Get a little exercise by walking around and try to relax, stress is only going to keep your sugar high. Did they prescribe insulin? If not then drink plenty of water, relax, and walk a bit to get your blood sugar down. Diabetes does not cause placenta adruptio and it can take 2 weeks after losing your mucous plug to actually go into labor. After this you'll have a higher risk of becoming diabetic later in life and with additional pregnancies. Be healthy and good luck.
Being in the 150's is not too bad and is not dangerous at all.

We are not the ones to ask if they will induce. That is up to your doctor.
However, be prepared for your baby to have low blood sugar levels when he is born if you can't keep your GD under control. Your baby will most likely be very listless and not cry very much. He may also require an IV of glucose solution for the first 1-2 days of his life. Also, he will probably be bigger than normal. This is because since your sugars are high, the baby's sugars are also high and there is extra insulin circulating in his system. Once he is born and separated from your placenta, the extra insulin will quickly eat up any sugars in his body, causing his blood sugar levels to plummet. That is why he will need to be supplemented with an IV of glucose solution.
Please try not to worry. Babies of mothers with GD will normally do very well after the first couple of days.

I also have gd. the doc should have mointered u when he found out that the sugar levels were high. He could have also started u on insulin which is helping regulate my numbers. But to answer your question, if the baby is too big they can induce and if needed give u a c-section.

Relax....call the doctor and find out what is considered a dangerous level of sugar for you and the baby. Then follow doctor's orders. Your water will be breaking soon after you lose the plug....you are very close...relax. Worrying just makes it worse.

One thing about blood sugars not being under control is that it can lead to Placental Abruption. This happened to me with my so nat 29 weeks and we almost lost him. Call your doctor. They may have to do another ultra sound to check the placenta to make sure that it is not pulling away from the wall of the uterus. If you have even the tiniest little bit of spotting, go to the ER ASAP. This is the only reason they were able to save our son because we headed to the hospital.
