The author of the popular series 'Harry Potter', which currently consists of six books, is Joanne-Kathleen Rowling, also known as JK Rowling. She literally went from rags as a single mom to riches as a mother, billionaire, and author with the selling of her first book, Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone, or as known in America, the Sorcerers Stone. I've read all six books at least twice and love them, but the movies (excluding 1&4) leave much to be desired.
With all the media on her and the popularity of her books, I'm surprised you had to ask.
