I really enjoyed the premiere. I have also watched it from the beginning, and sometimes miss the old characters. But, I think that change is exciting too!
I am looking forward to this season, and sad to read about the haiatus in December.

Well I agree with you I miss all the old characters too but TV like life turns, turns, turns ( to quote a song form the 60's I believe). I miss Mark Green, and Peter, Elizabeth, Carol Hathaway and Doug Ross, Carter etc. But I am willing to give new people/ characters a chance. It takes a while for new 'people' to grow on us. Remember Kerry was not liked in the beginning either and now she is one of the old characters. What I am sad about is that Abby had to have a hysterectomy in the premier episode and that Sam had to kill her husband to be free of him. How will these events play out is going to be interesting to watch. I also like Kerry without the cane. The actress's back was hurting her having to use the cane for what 11 hrs a day. It is a lot different and was also something the audience had to adjust to. Give it till mid-season before making and decisions ok. They will grow on you. I think that ER will be around for a long time to come especially when John Stamos (pardon the spelling) comes on board. Stay tuned!

I have watched ER since the beginning and the start of every season i watch the season premieres without wanting to turn the channel but this season's premiere i just couldn't sit through it. I really didn't care for it. The show has been renewed until 2008 or 2009 but i think if they don't try to bring back like dr. carter or more of the cast members people love then the show is doomed. I'm going to give it maybe 2 or 3 more episodes then i might just quit watching it.

I thought the first episode was great!!! Actually, ER is going on hiatus in December while NBC tries putting on an Irish-American version of the Sopranos on in the ER time slot. Don't know if ER will be back late in the Spring or not. Weaver had hip replacement surgery, by the way, so that's why she isn't using her cane.

I had heard rumors last season that it would be the final season of ER. Guess they were wrong. I belived it though as they lost so many of the regulars. I do like Sam, Abby and Luca though. I will miss Carter. I wish Kerry was on the episodes more.

when kerry broke her hip last season the docs gave her replacement hips and it was a big descision for her because she would loose her identity as a disabled person because with the new hips she would be able to walk again normally.
i think er is renewed for a few more years but it's not the same.

I was surprised that Jerry made it because I see him playing the bartender on the new show Men in Trees.
