My two favorite recent ones are 28 Days Later and Dawn of the Dead.
Have not heard about the 28 Days Later sequel. Can't wait!

Watch one of earlier Peter Jackson's movie.
DeadAlive or Braindead.
Can't remember what it's called.
Pretty good.
Reanimator.
Original Dawn of the Dead.
Remake is good too.
Day of the Dead.
Night of the Living Dead. 1990 remake. Not great but not bad.
