I was just curious because some girls in my school seem to take birth control whom many claim that they don't tell their parents.

Yes honey. You can get them without your parents knowing. There are clinics all over the USA that will help you. Planned Parenthood and/or Family Planning will help you. They don't just hand you a prescription. You have to be examined, pap smear, etc. before they will give them to you. For those here who tell you that you to see a doctor first is redundant because these clinics are staffed with trained medical professionals who will take care of all of that right there. Now, let's talk about another form of contraceptives that will save your life. Having a baby probably won't kill you but a sexually transmitted disease can. Condoms are the best way to protect yourself from every angle. As long as you don't use petroleum jelly (it eats holes in the condom), always use KY jelly with a condom, you are protected not only from pregnancy, but from HIV, AIDS, Hep C, to name a few. If that dude doesn't want to wear it, tell him to get lost.

On the other hand, believe it or not, your caretaker (mom, dad, grandma, grandpa, aunt, uncle), would look at you in a much kinder way if you go to them and tell them you would like to get birth control. Unless you are catholic, then I don't know what to tell you. I approached my foster mother that way and she looked at me...was quiet for a bit...and looked back at me, smiled, hugged me and told me she was so happy that I trusted her enough to ask her for her help instead of not letting her into a part of my life that she knew was inevitable. Smart parents these days know that 15 is the normal age to start experiementing with sex. It was when I was a teenager. I have always told my teenage daughters that they can come to me with anything because I am hip that way. And they do. I would much rather see a responsible, normal young lady get birth control than end up a young, unwed mother. Tell your Mom because she may accidentally find those contraceptives and feel hurt that you didn't come to her for her advice. Good luck honey. You are wonderful for being responsible for yourself. I admire that so much. Kudos to you!!!! :)))))

Yes, you can. I was 15 and got started on birth control pills through Planned Parenthood. They did a full exam, and had me talk to a counselor first, but then prescribed the Pill right then and there. You don't even need to go to a pharmacy to fill it, they give it to you before you even leave the clinic w/ the instructions on how to take them. There are also free clinics that you can go to, but they are all confidential.
Planned Parenthood isn't free though, I paid something like $5.00/mo. for my pills at the time.
PLEASE use a condom though. The Pill, patch, and various other types of birth control helps prevent pregnancy (but not always, I got pregnant on the pill--I was 26 at the time--) but will NOT prevent you from getting AIDS or any other STDs.
Hope this helps. :)

yes, at planned parenthood you can get free birthcontrol and condoms and everything they do is confidential. Your age dose not matter, you just need to tell them that you are or plan to be sexually active. They can not tell your parents or anyone else. They can write a note excusing you from school so you dont have to tell your parents. Just an FYI expect a full exam before they will give you an RX for birthcontrol. I think its a good thing to offer, and it shows responsabilty for a girl to prevent an unwanted pregnancy. GOOD job for protecting yourself!

I think Planned Parenthood still provides birth control to minors. At least they did back in the 80's

Yes, the local health center will prescribe them to you after you do a full examination. Honestly though, birth control means sex, and that is something you shouldn't take lightly. If you don't feel comfortable talking to your parents, you should talk to someone.

yes you can get birth control without your parents knowing. You can get them at the health department. But they will do a womens physical on you. Pap Smear, breast exam and so on. If you are conserned and having sex talk to your parents if they are understanding if not call your local health dept. and make an appt.

In some states they take in consideration of the situation. If you lost contact with your parents and you are being raised in another situation you probably can get birth control pills.

No. Birth control pills are by prescription. You would have to see a doctor. Because you are under 18, the Dr. won't give a prescription without parents' consent.
