Well Ozzy reached full status of rock star in the 80's packed arenas, way too many songs to mention, he had nothing but some of the best guitarists
Billy Idol was a star but not the greatest.. how many known songs he has versus Ozzy? if it wouldnt have been for Steve Stevens...

Billy Idol was damn cool, but I don't think he was the best of the decade by any means. There are a lot of contenders I'd say, but no clear winner.

George Michael.
or Madonna.
Gimme "The Honeydrippers Volume One" as the best album of the 1980's, especially Robert Plant's perfect recreation of "Rockin' at Midnight."

He isn't even close, there are way too many rock stars that were much better than he that they are way too numerous to mention. If he were so great why did he only have a couple of hits and then disappear?

It's pretty much all by opinion, but if you ask me, it was Van Halen. Sure there was the underground scene of Thrash metal and such, but it would contradict their ethnic to call them "rock stars". (Same for punk rock like Dead Kennedy's, or Black Flag.)
I love Quiet Riot, too.

theres too many... way more then there are in the 2000's. man, someone really has to come out and change the music industry cause the way its going now, theres no good bands. we need sumthing good, something that can go platinum 15 times on their first album like guns n roses.

Well that's a subjective question. Sales-wise I beleive it was Duran Duran and Simon Le Bon...
