The heaviest bear ever killed was a Polar Bear. They are "generally" taller than Kodiaks, but Kodiaks are usually bulkier.
And by the way the Polar Bear is considered a marine or sea mammal fyi. They have been seen 100s of miles off land.

The Kodiak brown bear is the world’s largest bear while the polar bear is the world’s heaviest bear. Polar bears have been reclassified as marine mammals due to the amount of time these bears spend in the water.
