What is the downside of using nuclear energy? I know that a nuclear meltdown would wreck a city and be an enivronmental disaster for decades, but I've heard that new reactors are much safer these days, and if we put more nuclear reactors in remote locations, I don't see how this could be a problem...(I think this is a better price to pay than dependence on foreign oil, which seems to be stirring up WW3 and the more scary prospect of the threat of nuclear war...doomsday)

The problem with nuclear energy is the radiation risk, and that is a risk which carries a threat of centuries or even millenia. Alchohol contains water which becomes corrosive to metals when it burns.

I have an idea though! How about a gigantic FUSION reactor placed at a safe distance of about 93 million miles and panels to collect the radiant energy from it and convert it to electricity?

Ok, where to start. How about some credentials. I'm a nuclear engineer. Ironically, I'm studying the idea of nuclear fusion here on earth. First, the only "disaster" in the US has been Three Mile Island, and no radiation was released. Our reactor designs have always been much better than the russian designs, especially in the containment. Waste is merely a political problem. We know how to reprocess the waste, 96% of what comes out of a reactor is burnable Uranium. The other 4% can be gotten rid of in other types of reactors. We can even "transmute" radioactive elements into non-radioactive elements (think alchemy). I guess thats why the US plans to build 34 of them over the next 15 years (Just announced).

Corn ethanol drives up the cost of nutrition. It creates a grant and insist concern and if taken any greater desirable, we heavily isn't waiting to have the money for nutrition. Obama does not have the understanding approximately nuclear power, even however did take a huge marketing campaign contribution from a nuclear power plant in his homestead state after rewriting a invoice many circumstances to healthy this plant. Hes a hypocrite.

NUCLEAR WASTE!!! Need I say more? As for ethanol, blame the oil companies, oh Reagen had a hand in that as well. He stopped all research into alternative fuels.
