Hi

If you are talking about supervision in terms of the process where an employee meets with their line manager to discuss work and issues relating to this work, then there are no legislative requirements, only the individual policy set out by the organisation that employees the person.

If you are talking about supervision ratios that is a different matter, and it depends on the age of the children, and the setting that it applies to, contact your local Early Years Development and childcare Partnership (EYDCP) at the local council, and they will be able to give you the relevant info, or phone the local children's information service

Supervision is a formal process which gives the worker and manager the opportunity to discuss, resident issues, Staff issues, your role and responsibilities , highlight any training needs and promotes development. It is required to take place on at least ten occasions throughout the year.Hope this helps Good Luck.

supervision should be confidential, unless what is said is of enough concern to the supervisor to warrant passing on or investigating.
It should happen 6 times a year as a minimum.
