If you stand in the middle of England and start walking in a straight line, pretty soon you'll end up on the seaside. And, no matter where that is, you'll probably find a lot of holiday-makers enjoying the seawater.

In other words, it''s part of our psyche. That's why foreigners think of us as being "salty" and why politicians and plumbers like meeting there.

Whereas, if middle-of-the-country Yanks and Canucks walk in a straight line, they'll probably end up in some wimpy freshwater river or lake. Nothing in it except garbage.

That's why foreigners think of them as being plastic.

for the safety of the party leaders.
if the deligation revolt, old and new leaders can jump on the sea to save their life.
