I have a VHS VCR and a DVD recorder hooked up. Problem is, when I try to record, the recorder spits out an error message, saying this video is copy-protected.

There are devices out there that you connect between the VCR and DVD recorder for removing Macrovision. For example:

http://www.lycanthus.com

I personally have a device similar to this one: http://checkhere22.com/stabilizer/

and have found it to work well for me..

ur better off doing it on your computer. computer programmes will automatically remove macrovision. dvd recorders are designed to copy home videos. at least in the states.
