The people who create the music - the composers and arrangers- deserve to be compensated for their work. In most cases they receive a small royalty percentage from the sales. Any time anyone uses music for free it takes their livelihood out of their pocket. It would be like anyone who wants to , coming and taking money out of your bank account or pocket anytime they didn't want to spend their own money.

There are a lot of reasons, if you were a singer or musician, how would you feel if you spent a lot lot of money giving out a record and after that you see its not being sold because of free sharing on the internet??? Everybody is responsible. But also some people fear of being caught and paying fees. This is also applicable to software and programs.

Because if everybody downloads for free, the artists don't make any profit, so there is no point in bothering to write and record any more music. Recordings don't make themselves -- it involves a lot of hard work, money, and hassle.
Try going to the supermarket and ask them if you can download next Sunday's dinner for nothing.

Because whenever you download music for free, you're creating a risk for yourself to get caught downloading copyrighted material. Even though most people who do it don't get caught, people are willing to pay for their music, because:
1. It's legal
2. The quality is better
3. Not risking to get caught
4. It's easier
5. Makes them feel better that they didn't steal something that someone else put alot of effort into.
That's basically why people pay for their music.

The MP3 format is good for nearly deaf people, but if you really want to hear the music you'll need a turn table and if not that a CD player.

Downloading music without paying is said to be illegal so like if they don't want to mess with the law and mess getting caught, they'll pay for the songs they download.
