Exactly like this, without any pauses, he posted this:

got to go now
love you
if i could
i would.....
but i cant
because
doesnt matter
bye

this was on an msn conversation so that could be a factor why he said that to me - usually he's just a joker, and it was definately to me because he said that all in one go

A lot of you interpreted this as him trying to say that he has fallen for me

But i was thinking, maybe it meant he was trying to make fun of me, like saying he couldnt because im too ugly or something!! Because usually he does say things like "you're fat" just to make me get worked up, but uaully he just says "laters" when he's leaving.

He's single but i've got a b/f - and i already asked him what he meant when he said that and he just replied shortly "i forgot"....so what am i meant to do now?

Yes, i should add that i said nothing to provoke this - he said it out of the blue

sounds like he does like you, but doesn't want to talk about it. He could be saying he can't because you two are friends or because you are with someone else. I think you should just leave, sounds like he already regrets bringing it up.

well to me this sounds that he wants to be more than friends with you but feels like theres something in the way, like the fact that you've got a boyfriend. how do you feel about him hows things with your boyfriend? ask him out right the next time your talking to him on msn. But seriously first he was kind of being jokely nasty and now hes doing the i love you, hes fallen for you!!

If you are not into him in that way then treat the whole things as a harmless flirtation. When people write stuff in emails and text message it seems to come across as more intense and less funny than they may have intended.

If he is really hot for you then you will have other opportunities to observe him and decide for yourself down the road.

Gurlfriend I think that he has feelings for you and just do not know how to express it to you. He feels that he loves you but since you already have a boyfriend whats the point in bothering you. It seems to me that you have feelings for this man also. So sit down get a drink and discuss what's going on between you two.

He's flirting with you. He may not be serious - because he knows you have a boyfriend. If you like harmless flirting, then don't do anything. If it makes you uncomfortable, then rave more about how wonderful your boyfriend is to him, he'll soon get the picture.

Is he a fan of phish? If I could, I would is part of a lyric to a song from hoist(maybe he was listening to it).

Or perhaps he was just trying to see your reaction.

I think he is 'feeling the water' looking for a response from you. If you have a bf already, then brush it off. He just likes you a lot...

Ask him what he meant!
Its the only way to find out without agonising for ages.
