Very lucky and i'm so glad he's making progress!

I hope he makes a full recovery for his family and his sake!

Of course he has been lucky. He's also lucky to have a job that I envy.

There's been much said about whether the Hamster should've been driving that car, and that TG should be toned down/axed/etc, all of those saying this clearly missing the point of the programme.

Anyway, I hope the BBC don't surrender to such narrow-minded drivel. Hopefully, Top Gear can continue as the superbly entertaining petrolheads' religious service is always has been, and thankfully, Hammond looks to be on the mend. Can't wait to see him back on TV with his new bragging rights.

Yeah, unlike poor Dr Margaret Davidson, a victim of Joy Riders, a phenomenon that the Lardy Lads from Top Gear must bear some responsibility for encouraging.

He's been extremely lucky. There are a lot of people moaning about how dangerous it was but I've not heard one single person sing the praises of roll bars. I think it undoubtedly saved his life.

The Drs have said that he should make a good recovery but are still being very cautious because he may now suffer some permanent memory loss. I wish him all the best.

Cant believe anyone could survive that, and walk a few days after, must have had a guardian angel, good luck to Richard and his family.

I dont know if I'd call him 'Lucky' yet as its early days, the brain is a very complex thing and only time will tell.
I really hope he makes a FULL recovery, He is so young and just starting off in life. Life is so damned cruel at times. My thoughts are with his young family.

No. He's been very unlucky. Perhaps you consider being involved in a serious crash, having to be airlifted to hospital, brain surgery and a couple of days in intensive care lucky, but it doesn't seem like it to me.

Now, walking away from the crash - that would have been lucky. Let's hope he has a speedy recovery.

Your not kidding, I only hope they learn from this terrible accident & quit with the silly stunts. You're a long time dead. Alot of people treat life as a dress rehersal. I hope TOP GEAR goes on, but carefully. We could of been sending condolences to his wife & family. Why do people have to beat land speed records anyway? It's not as if they're gonna drive on the road at this speed. LIVE & LEARN eh!

Yes i do agree. But, he didn't crash at 250+ mph. He deployed the parachute to slow him right down before he crashed. He probably crashed at 50-100mph. Either way, yes he is Lucky. Hope to see the hamster back soon.
