Check your owners manual, look in the glove box for it. One some cars it is a sealed system and you can not check it.

There is no dipstick to check but you can check it still by crawling underneath the vehicle. On the trans pan you will see 2 plugs. One is a little higher then the other. When you have warmed up vehicle you will need to remove the upper plug while the vehicle is running. If fluid starts to run out then it is full. No fluid then you will need to pump some in. Your best bet is to take to a quick lube center so they can check it for you. If they tell you it is sealed then get away from there cause they don't know jack crap. So good luck.

need more info. but here's what you look for in these two cases
If it's a manual transmission...not likeley with the Passport....you have to get under the truck and open the fill hole on the gearbox.
If it's an automatic, there's a dipstick toward the rear of the engine. It will have markings on it to tell you.
Good luck.

is this a standard or automatic?? standard you dont, automatic you leave car in park, engine running, transmission warm, pull stick that says transmission on it, at back of motor - left or right side, out and see if oil is between marks.

you have a fill tube coming up through your motor compartment with a dip stick in it. look on the dip stick it should say whether you have to have it idling in park or not to check the level of fluid.
