try typing in free cross stitch designs into yahoo, and although u will have to filter through them, there are some great sites in there

Check out your local public library's collection on cross stitch books. You may find some good ones! You can check out the books and have the patterns you like copied on a color copier.

You can visit DMC.com. They offer a large selection of free patterns and are shown by category. They just added quite a few new ones using the new threads that DMC just introduced.
