This is why we have professionals to deal with situations like you describe. You are describing two different people above those that are suicidal and those who have only put up a impenetrable wall. True the wall could lead to the other. Professionals are trained to deal with these people and watch body movements as clues or signs. Ordinary people have trouble getting thru both types sometimes as these people just might not want help or friends, and it gets aggravating trying to get people to fully understand your intentions. A suicidal person is very difficult to deal with and very unpredictable so thats why many end up taking someone with them that has no idea how to even begin to talk someone out of it. Even with my background, its extremely difficult at times dealing with people and we do lose once in awhile as we are human too. Dealing with people is probably the hardest profession there is but also is the most interesting too

If a person threatens suicide, call the police or emergency service so that they will be hospitalized for the required period of time. Because-
1- they are serious and need to be stopped and you're not qualitied as a psychologist to do it -OR-
2- they are very manipulative and are playing a game and it needs to be made clear that these threats are not a game.

The only way to show someone that you care about them is to just Show them that you care about them. Love is what it does, if it does nothing it ain't love. You can tell the person I care about you all day long but when you take the time to show them non stop then and only then will they get to picture.

well the best way to handle this situration is by being friendly toward this person.dont be hostile . when you get close enough to this person get wepons away from them. also it might be a good idea to contact his/her parents and maybe they can convience this person that they have so much to live for and their future depends on them . they got the ball . dont let pressure or anything to block their future.tell them we can work things out , we can make a difference. thats all you can do.

Just do not leave them alone.
I let a friend walk away from me 15 years ago, he said he was going home.
I was busy and said good bye.
It was mothers day 1991 and he gassed himself in his mothers garage that day.
I knew he was ill.
Just do not leave them alone.
