Do you relize that electoral votes override the population vote when it comes to president elections. When Gore and Bush were running. Gore won with the people but Bush had more elctoral votes so he won. Isn't that completely unfair?!

I think the electoral college should be tossed out. I agree that it should be up to the people to decide. However, what I think is worse is that in order to win the electoral college you have to win a majority of the votes. Perhaps this is the reason that only two political parties ever have a chance of winning. Now that is completely unfair! Too many segments of the American public go unrepresented because of this.

The elimination of the electoral system is argued constantly. In this case it worked out for the best (Bush won) but it may well be unfair, It was set up so that people in sparsely populated states (like, now, Montana and Wyoming) have a strong vote. True, it may not be fair, but it's not something of which people are unaware.

It is not completely unfair, but it does need to be reformed. I support (weak as that support seems since I don't vote any more) the idea of a constitutional amendment to replace the electoral college with a direct popular vote.

It has worked this way in this country from the beginning. Maybe it's time to eliminate the electoral college. Now that we have real-time information, there probably is no need for this process, but it will take a constitutional amendment to change it.

Yes, I knew that. As a matter of a fact, the first time I saw it happened I said, "What the hell is this crap!"

Anyway, reguardless of which candidate wins it's always the American people, who usually end up losing in the end!
