It looks like you have to be demoted to primary grades again. Too bad.

It's a road map to your paper. Say your paper is over cheese. A good thesis statement would be:

Cheese is a very diverse product. There are many different kinds of cheese, and all of them have their own unique tastes. The process for making cheese is the same, no matter what kind you are trying to produce.

An good outline for that would be:

A. Thesis
B. Kinds of Cheese
C. Process of making cheese

Disclaimer: I have no idea how you make cheese. None of the information in this response concerning cheese is coming from an expert, and therefore my be absolutely wrong. But I love cheese, and I'm eating cheese at the moment, so I decided to do a sample thesis on cheese.

Hope this helps!

Basically give what your paper will be about but not with too much information. If you are writing tons of info, put your paragraphs into sentences and have one or two sentences from each paragraph be your intro (don't make them the same in the body paragraph). These are what I have used for thesis in the past since I could never write one sentence that just put it to the point

A thesis statement is one of the greatest unifying aspects of a paper. It should act as mortar, holding together the various bricks of a paper, summarizing the main point of the paper "in a nutshell," and pointing toward the paper's development. Often a thesis statement will be expressed in a sentence or two; be sure to check with your professor for any particular requirements in your class--some professors prefer a more subtle approach!

a thesis statement should sum up everything your going to cover in your paper.. could be something like "In the following paper i'm going to tell you about people in the past, caves and artwork. I will give examples of each one" or something like that.. Hope it helps.. I"m in college and thesis sentences still get me... good luck
