Why does the number on the card change when they give you a new one?

security reasons on the new number, but sending one early ensures you are not without a debit card when it does finally expire.

Because there have been a lot of scams run with Bank of America with people utilizing the Internet to get your personal account info. I was told they issue new cards as a security measure.

There is usually an overlapping period between issuing a new card and expiration date of old one so you are never without a valid card.

Numbers always change just in case to help prevent fraudulent use and identity protection.

I think all banks do that, i don't bank with B of A and my bank does the same thing......
