My husband wants to build a home on a lot of land he buys with his bestfriend...temporarily untill it sales(which could mean anything!! 1 year 2 years 8 years) I think the idea of living next door to his best friend is outrageaous. Especially being newlyweds......we don't need a third wheel! Any thoughts. Is that selfish of me?

I realize I'm not a lady, but let's NOT try to stack the odds in our favor, OK...? OK...!
At face value, before reading the additional background, I was gonna say it depends how comfortable the 2 of you are with it... However, you've made THAT abundantly clear...
Let me tell you this: There will be times when you'll want to do something with the girls and exclude him... His having his best friend next door would be a real blessing in that he'd only BE next door and his coming back to be with you would be as simple as you honking the horn when you got back from being out...
Wish my wife wanted to be with me as much as you want to be with him...!

it truly is a few thing I have in no way considered over the following. the front door changed into for travellers, and they could be led into the residing room, a room in many circumstances utilized by making use of the mothers and fathers interior the evenings. youthful toddlers forbidden. Our get entry to changed into to stroll round to the back of the domicile and enter there, into the kitchen. frequently the front door in reality ought to correctly be opened with a key from the outdoors, and a turn button on the interior, so it changed into continually locked. The back door changed into continually unlocked and as far as i will bear in mind, no longer even locked in one day. The origins behind the turn 21 and get the key of the door is obscure, even with the indisputable fact that the context changed into that once you grew to change into 21 you received the key to the front door, and ought to come and bypass as you overjoyed, an illustration of adulthood. That changed into the idea I lived with interior the various houses I lived in as I grew up.

A lot depends on this friend. Can you stand him? Have you ever "liked" him? Does your husband act differently when this friend is in his company? Does this friend respect boundaries for you and your husband now?
You need to seriously consider these questions.

I agree with you 100%. You don't need to be living next door to his best friend. You are supposed to be his best friend now anyhow. Temporary usually drags out for years...

i love my husbands best friend (he happens to be married to my best friend) but i wouldn't want to live too close to them. we live about an hour away, and i think it keeps our friendship fresh. absence makes the heart grow fonder.
