I'm allergic to them, but I want my Betta to eat different types of food. He doesn't seem to enjoy shrimp too much either.

Puree some raw beef heart and freeze it flat in baggies, break off little bits for feeding. It has a lot of really good enzymes and other nutrients in it. Freeze dried tubiflex worms are also good.

Glassworms, brine shrimp, any frozen foods really! They do carry flake and pellet foods for Betta's but read the label for bloodworms first as most have this ingredient.
Also, live aquatic plants with small leafy leaves are good for food, as well as romaine lettuce, cucumber and other veggies we eat!

Try these variations:
Betttas enjoy:
Peas (frozen not canned the canned are to salty and thawed of course)
Betta Pellets
Freeeze dried blood worms (you can pick these up with tweezers if you are not to allergic)
You can feed hard boiled egg yolk in chunks but it dissolves quickly so beware of cloudy water
Oh and mine will attack any bug or insect that falls in its water. But I don't advise feeding bugs. They just seem to jump in my betta's bowl. And well my betta rips them to shreds. Doesn't really eat them though.

it depends on your betta. One of mine was in love with flakes and would even eat them off my finger. While the other wud eat flakes but liked bloodworms better
