Usually deodorant really can cause black underarms. Alum powder is really effective in whitening underarms and its really good in getting rid of body odor. But, the disadvantage of this is it doesn't have the anti-perspirant effect and you can really suffer from severe rashes when its hot summer because the perspiration remains there that can irritate the underarms. Try to use alum if its not hot. Or take a deodorant that is for whitening. Before, i scrub calamansi in my underarms for 20 mins before taking a shower. Then i used alum powder, thats the most effective than any other.

It's very normal- the skin gets darker because it's moist and because it's irritated by shaving.
Try facial peeling with larger granules to exfoliate before shaving- it will give you a closer shave, and remove the darker skin.
Use deodorant with aluminum or antiperspirant to keep the odor at bay.

I use to have dark unerarms. I grew out the hair in my pits for a month or couple weeks. Then bought a new sharp razor and a really goos shaving cream then shaved.

it helped too. try washing your pits with a spongey loofa or shower poof.
