you could ask. Let them know that if that is the Case then birth control is of importance and though you are not crazy about the idea, it is better then being a grandma.
Planned Parenthood is great about this and has some AWESOME pamphlets for parents. Check them out.

Whether or not you can tell if your teen is already having sex is a bit of an oxymoron.
From the moment puberty peeks, teens automatically begin having active sex in their minds. It's both normal and healthy!
It's sounds as if the question your really asking is - "Is my teen having unprotected sex?" The only way to confirm this mystery is to ask. Open up a discussion about sex and try to use it as an opportunity to educate and safeguard your child. The result: your conscience can rest.

Can you remember the way you acted when you started having sex? Same goes for teenagers today. News flash: MOST of them are doing things very close to sex if not all the way. They are far more advanced than when I was a teen (I'm 36). I know teens that Send nude photos of themselves to boys on their cell phones, send photos of "parts" of the body, and videos of things you wouldn't believe. Times have changed. I would not allow my kids to have a cell phone with camera. No Way!

Honestly you can't. I started when I was 14 and my mom didn't know that I was until I was 18 and thats because I told her. I only had one partner during that time who was my childs father , but I didn't act any different. I had to educate myself on condoms and birth control , I wished my mom would have talked to me before then. You should maybe ask your teen if they are having sex , let them know you will get upset ( if you do get mad they will only do it behind your back any way ) , and tell them you will help prepare them . Safe sex is better than unprotected sex.
