In 26 years of printing I have never seen a woman run a printing press. It is a dirty job and the larger presses require a lot of physical work. Usually when starting in the trade a person starts by doing the the dirty jobs. It takes years to learn the trade but it can be rewarding. Most of the training is on the job training.

One job that not many women do is being a machinist. You need to study for it and then know all the tools and parts and read blue prints so that you can make the parts correct. Where I worked there was probably 400 men with all three shifts running machines but only 6 women running them. Hope this helps.

Not many women are semi truck drivers. They need special training at a truck driving school and special drivers license endorsement before they will be hired by companies to drive.
