The biggest wast of money is Impulse spending, not having a budget. Everyone needs a budget so you spend what money you have on purpose that enables you to save more and plan for a better tomorrow.

BTW I agree taxes is worst by far but I tend to concentrate on what I have control of and not what is beyond my control.

Taxes not the biggest waste for both econo-philosophical and pragmatic reasons.

Econo-philosophical - taxes pay for stuff that a society needs to have to function, roads, police, armies, etc. Despite what your opinions might be on police and prisons and the military, they are absolutely necessary for a stable society given the current nature of people and cultures.

Pragmatic - see what happens to you if you stop paying them, then those components in the paragraph above will come into play (hopefully not the army, though).

To me - some lifestyle stuff, spending money for expensive but unhealthy food and habits not only costs money but reduces health and well-being.
