to push their agenda.the tobacco lobby pushes for no laws against smoking. big oil pushes for no environmental laws.banks push to keep credit unions down.over all their purpose is to buy govt officials.

Our system is nearly broken due to the lack of simple morality we see in our elected officials. They play an elaborate game in which you must find a way to give them money or they will harm you in ways you can't imagine. If one special interest group is paying the piper, the other side has to also or risk be harmed. It is out of control. Elected officials love bringing up things like gay marriage or other things that get both sides opening their wallets to contribute. Even better if they can keep it going for a while before passing the law.
