I have heard of this happening in the slim PS2 sometimes, but as for myself i have had the old version of the PS2 for over 3 years now and it has not given me one issue since i bought it. All systems have some kind of issue with there systems, the 360 also has a problem with overheating sometimes. Nintendo probable has the best record when it comes to the workmanship of it's systems, and Sony comes in second.

It does, but only if you've been playing for a ridiculous long amount of time. It also has less processing power.
