I don't know the details, so this is just my opinion.
People commit suicide for many different reasons. Some are religious, some because they are on the wrong type of medication, some because they have a terminal disease and don't want to cause their loved ones suffering and pain. There are many, many more, but the point is made. Then there are some who don't really mean to go through with it. They are yearning for attention.
In that last case, sure Lionel Blair could talk you out of it! What better attention for an attention-seeker, than from a celebrity? And I bet Lionel worked hard too. I am sure he is no fool and is very talented. Good for him!
But perhaps even Lionel nor Queen herself could dissuade someone who was really set on taking their own life.

I once saw a wedding photo of Les Dennis when he married Amanda Holden. Either side of them were Lionel Blair and Su Pollard. No wonder the marriage didn't last if he was associating with those buffoons. It'd be all charades and 'I can be a redcoat' all bloody night.
And why is it in 'Give U A Clue' that when someone guesses the right answer, the person miming points to the correct answerer and puts a finger from the other hand on his nose. Is that British Sign Language for, 'thank Christ, this boring load of t*ss is over.'
Who knows?

Lionel Blair was there helping promote the "Alan Carr end of the Pier Show" when he helped save the suicidal man.
Strangely the man was not suicidal until his wife said "Let's go to Blackpool. I've got two tickets for the Alan Carr end of the pier show"

If I was desperate enough to commit suicide and Lionel Blair tried to stop me it would only encourage me more. Anything to escape the High Lord of Tapdance.

I hope I would never contemplate suicide no matter how in the depths of dispair I was, however, just if, I would be so very grateful for anyone who stopped me and saved me regardless of whom they were.
Life if precious and to throw it away is terrible however non of us know the situation or circumstances of the guy in question other than himself - just let's hope and pray that he has the help and support he now needs.

Well he did stop someone and I think it's great. Well done him and Alan Carr.
Does it matter who tries to stop you, as long as they do. So yes if he said the right words.
