They eat anything that dies and falls to the bottom of the water. They also will eat fish and bugs unlucky enough to be caught by them but they will not put a lot of effort into hunting. In an aquarium they can eat fish food if it sinks to the bottom but they will pick at your fish too. If they weaken one by repeatedly picking at it they will be able to capture and eat it.

My class be studied about crayfish and I even got one! Mine is a boy. In the summer I usually feed bugs and lettuce. When it gets colder I usually feed it spinach or lettuce. I have crayfish pellet but it doesn't eat it for some reason. I would not feed it pallets probably, because I tried feeding it that but it doesn't if it doesn't eat. it then it soaks and turns into power. If you have spinach and lettuce that is spoiled you can also feed that to your crayfish. It can eat shrimp and many other seafoods. They also can eat each other if you put two of them together and you didn't feed them for a long time. If you hear some chattering that might be the two crayfishes fighting. Eat almost about everything in their tank. Once I didn't have any more food for my crayfish so I fed it apples and it would not eat it. Crayfish can live without food for a long time, so do not worry.

When I was doing research on crayfish, we fed them ground up shrimp pellets, but I'm pretty sure that they will eat just about anything that contains any sort of meat (they are detritivores, which means that they eat all of the dead stuff that falls to the bottom of a stream or lake.)

Crayfish are omnivorous and will eat a wide variety of foods, including plants, insects, and worms. They commonly feed on submerged, decaying vegetation, deriving nutrients mainly from the bacteria and other decomposers associated with it.

Crayfish are like bottom feeders. They feed on dead animals in the river.
