If I understand what you are talking about.. I use a drill just the size of the plastic holder... no larger.. drill the hole then pUT in the plastic holders(usually they are blue) and then put up the attachment and the screw.... ALL THIS IS ASSUMING that you are not screwing into a wooden stud.. If you are screwing into a wooden stud(wood piece in the wall) then you just need the screw and NOT the plastic piece

You are supposed to drill a hole, but you may not have a drill.

Just mark your spot with a pencil by holding the bracket up where you want it.

(Measure down from the ceiling so you can do the other side the same distance and it won't be crooked!)

If you do not have a drill, just take a nail and hammer it through the mark, move it around till it is big enough to put the plastic thing in the hole.

Hammer it in, and put the screw/nail in the plastic thing. Good luck!

You COULD drill a hole the size of the plastic thingy, then pound it into the hole with a hammer...OR, make a hole with a NAIL the size of the plastic thingy (called an anchor, by the way), pull the nail out, and THEN hammer the plastic thingy into the hole...tada!

drill a hole that is slightly smaller than the plastic anchors.. then gently tap the anchors in with a hammer or some other object that can serve the purpose.. (only needed if u r attaching to drywall and can't get the screws to go directly into some sort of wood.)

Most of the advice so far is good, but be careful not to drill your hole for the anchor to big. The hole needs to be smaller than the plastic anchor, so when you pound it in, it fits tight. If the hole is to big, the anchor will spin in the hole when you try to screw the screw in. Good Luck.

We found the best use of the plastic nail holders was to fill up the trash.

Drill a hole. Tap the plastic bit in the hole. The packaging should tell you the proper drill bit size.

i usually start the hole with the nail, then tap in the plastic holder with a hammer carefully so that you don't make the hole bigger than you need it.

Make a hole with a smaller nail. Tap into place. Use a screw, nails will not hold drapes.
