the instructions should be printed on the door.

The trick is to hold down the red button till the pilot flame has heated up the thermocouple (that metal wand sticking up into the flame.) this can take a minute or so.

If the button won't stay down after that, the thermocouple is bad. This is not unusual after a few years. If you can use hand tools, it is fairly easy to replace, be sure the gas if off. unscrew the end of the thermocouple line wher it enters the gas controller, then take it to a hardware store and buy a replacement.

Don't buy one that is too short, but if its a little long it won't hurt.

You should do it yourself and save BUCKS... There is a panel(should Be) at the back or base of the unit.. get a light(I have long matches available for that purpose)light it(the match) and stick it in to the lighting mechanism of the unit....

IF you are still confused, go to a home depot or Lowe's and ask them how to do it.. do not waste money on someone to come out and do what I described above and then charge you $75......

Probably needs a new thermocouple. If it got kinked or clogged your pilot won't light.
