I don't have the manual, and I don't know how it got locked. I rarely use it, and I have never used the self-cleaning mode. I didn't push any buttons or levers. It just has a little light that came on and I can't open it. I don't consider myself to be a dummy, I tend to be rather adept at fixing things, but this one has me confused.

OK........here's what you do. Find the main circuit breaker for your oven. Turn it off for fifteen minutes, then flip it back on. This should allow the door to open. Another thing sometimes, the dial for self clean will hang up, but the circuit breaker trick should fix it for you. If not, go to Frigidaire website and type in self cleaning oven problems. They give you step by step how to fix the problem. Good Luck.

Frigidaire Self Cleaning Oven Instructions

I googled and read a ton of posts on how to do this(including the circuit break), but nothing seemed to work. I finally just called an appliance repair man and he fixed it in 18 seconds. Ok, maybe it was 30 seconds. What he did was simple and something i had not done nor seen recommended on any thread. He pushed and held the door in, while simultaneously pressing the off button(for my unit it is an "X"). All of a sudden the vent stopped running and the door unlocked. Had to pay $70(w a discount) for that lesson, but I am still happy to have my oven back and not have it be a more costly repair. And to Lexi above, this wouldn t be mentioned in the manual!

Frigidaire Stove Manual

For no reason that I could see, (not heating the oven etc) the door locked much to my dismay. I followed laura (and others too) when she said-"hold in the door while pressing the clear button and voila-it worked!" Be sure to hold down on the clear button for a good while, at least 20 seconds or more while pressing in on the door handle. It will go through a series of flashes before clearing. Geezzz, I started out cooking on a wood stove back in the Great Depression and thought I may have to end up again doing the same!

Run a Google search on the model you have. You might find a manual on line or you can get in touch with the manufacturer. Is the door really locked? Unplugging the oven will not help, since you have cut the feed to it already and it doesn't clear out. It sounds like you might have engaged the latch unknowingly. Tug on the handle and check to see if there's a button around there. Make sure the knobs are completely off. Good luck.

James has the answer. You push the oven door in and hold it firmly, while pushing and holding the OFF button. After 10-15 seconds, there was a beep and a click. Then the locked light began to flash slowly. It flashed for another 10-15 seconds, and then there was another click. The oven door light went out and the door was open. My oven wasn t hot, however. I accidentally turned on the Clean cycle, but it never started. So my oven wasn t hot.

pamela c's answer, above, worked--I held "off" button until it beeps, then the "locked" light flashed for a few seconds & the door unlocked. Don't know how it got locked & it had not gone through a cleaning cycle, or was even hot, after the door unlocked.

Skyblue has the answer, I think. This happened to me also and the ckt breaker trick worked. Somehow my oven got set on the cleaning cycle. Maybe I bumped the switch. Hope it works for you too. Also, if the oven is hot it will have to cool down before it will unlatch.
