We just bought a chilean rose tarantula. They are not really all that rare, but they are defintely unusual. Our 4 year old named him Oddish.

We also have 5 hermit crabs (Shelley, Racer, Collossus, Beast, & Hermione), and 10 dwarf hamsters (Tiffany, Amy, Flint, Jasper, Riff, Raff, Domino, Charcoal, Spaz, and Toffee).

Had a Caimen Croc once named him Lil B that was short for Little Bastard he got stuck with the name because I kept telling my husband the Lil b better not bite me. He loved my husband, he would sit on his shoulder while he was on the computer, didn't care for me to much.

I had six wolf spiders. I fed them crickets and flies. I wouldn't say they were rare but they were unusual. I would poke at them with a pencil (gently of course) until they bit it and I could look at them venom. They're names were:
Isty, Bitsy, Spider, Peter, Parker and Spiderman.
And yes all of those were pun intended.

it wasn't rare, but i had a hen once, and even though we built a coop for it outside, it was quite insistent on staying in the living room. lol
it also came up to people and pull the hem of their pants. whenever i was going to school, and it saw me leaving, it would follow me for a while before it turned back.

Not too rare, but most think it's unusual. I owned a pair of mice, and recently acquired a pair of rats, too. One mouse and one rat are dead, though. The mice I named Laverne and Shirley (they were identical, so I don't know which one is left.) The rats are named Buttons and Socks, but only Buttons is left.
