It's almost an oxymoron isn't it? They have no original ideas of their own. There is no progression in their party at all. All they can do it bash the present administration. They think it keeps people from looking too closely at them. Sadly, they've got the wool pulled over a lot of Americans eyes.

The "far left" or the left in general has always been defined by their ability to be progressive. All progressive means is open to change that benefits the society as a whole. Progressive movements in US history include abolitionism, women's suffrage, and civil rights movements. Furthermore, many would consider our Founding Fathers to be "leftists" and "progressive" considering they were the first nation founded on democratic principles and the first colony to declare independence and create their own separate nation, very "progressive" indeed.

The thing about the word "pretentious" however is that one cannot say it without sounding like it.

Your argument is a thinly veiled semantic debate with no real meaning towards politics.

It didn't just now start. It is a movement started under the Clinton Administration. These people have no "deposit here" slot for incoming information. They live and socialize with each other, never seeing the real communities throughout the country, and they have come to believe they are truly superior to the millions of other citizens. They should be called ABGCM&A (Anything but God, Country, Mom & Applepie). They are shallow people who crave fame and fortune above all else. They want this to be a one-world government, and they want us to lower our living standards to match the third world nations - of course, that lower standard of living would not include them!

They may have progressive goals, but their methods (big government programs) often slow progress and create new problems. Conservatives (true conservatives) on the other hand prefer to keep government out of our lives, and allow things to progress as far as our abilities and initiative will take us.

I agree. "Progressiveness" would be more associated with understanding how the world actually works and responding to that in the most effective / efficient way. That is definately not what the "far-left wing fringe" is capable of doing. The Left is more mired in self-centeredness than progressiveness.
