Writing well is often considered a sign of intelligence. You seem more educated if your writing is well put-together and makes sense. Here are some "real-life" examples of when writing well could make a difference:
You are planning to go to college, but need financial assistance to make it through. Many scholarships and grants require that you write essays telling why you deserve their funding. No matter how creative and convincing you can be, if your essay is not well written, then they will pass over you.
In college, you will be required to take literature/language arts classes. Your teachers will be much more likely to give good grades if your compositions are easy-to-read, clear, and use good grammar. If they couldn't figure out the point of your papers, or if they have to dig though piles of punctuation, spelling, and other mistakes, they will be less likely to pass you.
You would like to get a job at a prestigious workplace (by this, I mean something that requires a great deal of education.) Many places request that you write a letter of interest with a resume to let them know you want a job. Also, if you land an interview, it is common practice to send a thank-you letter to your interviewer. Can you imagine an employer taking you serious if your letters are poorly formed?
Not to mention the plethora of jobs out there that require you to write as part of your job description.

It's important to write well in any field you go into, even science and business. You'll be able to present your ideas and information clearly. In the short term, writing well will help you immensely in high school and college. (Essays are everything in some of my classes!) Besides, writing can actually be fun if you just want to vent and let out your feelings.
In the journal you're assigned you don't have to worry too much just write about what you think for the topic. Hope this helps.

well, writing is a form or corresponding, it is important to write where it can be read and also so that it makes sense. For instance you can show feeling, compassion, fear, hate, anger all feelings with words..........if you write something and no one gets it or can even read it, it would be worthless. There should be some sights on line to help you out with a project such as this. My sister and I kept diary for years, to go back and read it now, I feel like I am right back there so we did a good job! It is important sometimes to give lots of detail.

Because, if you want any sort of a decent job, communication skills are a must...and writing is a part of communications. If you want to be a roofer or a concrete worker, don't worry about your writing skills. Now if you're dating someone and you write a little love note where your grammar is messed up and everything is mispelled...that person may decide to trade up to someone that has everything on the ball.

The reason you need to write well is to have your writing with clarity and an even flow so the reader can keep their interest. If you move around to this and that with no smoothness the reader will lose all sense of direction and lose all interest. Good Luck!

It is important for the same reason you were taught to speak. Someday something will be very important to you, and you will want to be heard!
