Its not that bad of a job to do, there is a spring loaded belt tensioner that you can use a ratchet to hold back while you put the belt on, there should be a belt routing diagram sticker under the hood that will show you where the belt goes, but it could be a little dangerous if the tensioner slips off of your tool while you have a finger caught, so be careful.

The engine would not would desire to be bumped off to interchange the pinnacle gasket in that Sunfire however the $800 hard artwork estimate is approximately top. The flat fee hard artwork instruction manual for that job, finding on whether it has the regularly occurring 2.2L engine or the twin cam 2.4L engine, levels from approximately 7.5 hours to eight.25 hours. That job, out the door (areas and hard artwork), can actually cost $1000 to $1200 or greater.

Without the correct tools, it will be tough. I would get a serpentine belt removal tool, and a new belt, with a belt diagram, and try it. You do need to make sure though that nothing locked up that caused the belt to break.

It is easy, just check the diagram. Sometimes it is easier if you have someone help you by holding the idler that does the tensioning.
