Buoyancy. It is the density of body against the water density. Fat is less dense than muscle, which explains why those that are very lean sink. The greater the body density the more that a person will sink. The less density the more that water will "push" the person to the top.

true meaning of floating is floating in any medium now there is a way with which air floatation is possible, i dont know the exact name and location where it is done but it is done in russia where people could travel in an airplane and when the plane reaches at very high altitude it traverses downward with 'g' as the acceleration and due to the negative 'g' effect people experience weightlessness i.e. they float in air(now other physics laws also play their part like frames of motion) , the idea is to either make the acceleration due to gravity zero or be in a place where there is no gravitation, simple, however all other mediums except air have their own rules........

People float by having fat in their bodies. The density of fat is less than that of water, so naturally they float.

No gravity; for the very few who actually get to experience it. As far as in the mind I've experienced a floating sensation while running and after running.

we just have less density then water and I think the air in your bodies have something to do with it. Did you know that it is easier to float in the ocean then in a pool? something to do with the salt.
