Why not vote 3rd party and oust your corrupt backstabbing government?

the dems have made the parties like oil and water. They miss their tax dollars and they don't want people to get the idea that they can do things without the goverments help. They want us to remain a welfare state so the have a reason to hold power.

The third party is as bad as the dems. Pro choice, tree huggers.

You have a good point. I would say go ahead and vote for a 3rd party, as long as you truly wouldn't prefer one of the major parties over the other. In our, winner-takes-all electoral system, a 3rd party vote usually takes a vote away from the party it is more similar to, thus helping the party you like the least. So, often, many people settle for voting for the lesser of two evils.

Slowly and surely, the American public (at least the thinking ones) will wake up and realize this. America no longer has a government of, by, and for the people. I vote for the best candidate, regardless of party. With the garbage the "big 2" have been giving us lately, is it any wonder people are looking into Libertarians, Greens, etc?

You are talking about "Dem" and "Repub" politicians, and you're right - they are working for themselves (do you know what their retirement deals look like?) and not the people. But going to a 3rd party is not a good solution because there won't be enough of them elected quickly enough to give them the power to fix things. It is better to elect good people from either of the major parties to steer - slowly - things in the right direction.

Unfortunately, I think that it will require a new constitution to take corporate interests out of government, two party politics, and a return to open and honest debate of the issues.

Our forfathers made a wonderful document, but there were a few loopholes that they didn't notice, and perhaps they were a bit naive to think that evil people wouldn't find a way to exploit their document for their own personal and ideological gain.

A third party cannot fix this. Only a renewal of the ideals of our forfathers and a fixed constitution that closes the loopholes and gives all Americans the right to vote will change things.

So the 3rd party can become the corrupt backstabbing government?

Dems and Reps are closer on a lot of issues than they think, but right now with all three branches of the government in the hands of one party, the far right can go completely whacky. So the nation gets polarized.
Our systen isn't really set up for third parties (one of the two majors usually incorporates any good ideas third parties come up with) and thrid party ideologies tend to be too far out for most voters.

Some ppl see the world in black and white. It is comforting not to have an opinion other than going with the chosen herd. To think however takes some effort.

The only way to correct this problem is to have more representation of ideologies like a system similar to that of Germany. Your also right, our political system is a two headed monster. So vote Democratic, their the less evil twin.

You blame the republicans and democrats!! it's not the parties. it's the Politicians who play and get money for sitting on their asses. like Edward Cardoza from district 3 in Stockton, California. We have a problem in an apartments for the disabled and elderly. but he never answers!!!
