I say go for the RAID 1/0 if at all possible. I am currently running 4x500GB Sata Drives with 16 MB buffer with 300 MB/s. The configuration of both the RAID 0 & 1 is you get increased speed with constant backup. I set mine up through my actual BIOS. It did everything step by step to set it up to look like 1 terabyte drive. So when you boot your PC, press either F5 or F8 and you should search through the setup...

i would advise reading the raid manual since the software is all different for each maker, i would advise using either raid 1/0 or raid 5(to be total secure).
but the drives need be the same size, and best to be made by same company eg seagate,wd, etc..
