water. And a drink that quenches your thirst does not always hydrate you. Iced tea for instance, quenches your thirst, but it is really a diuretic, so it actually dehydrates you.

Water would hydrate you the best under normal circumstances. Cola & Diet Cola both contain alot of Sodium (salt) and therefore actually end up dehydrating you.

However, in the case of being ill or under extreme physical exertion - fruit juice or lightly salted water can help you rehydrate better because it is water based but also contains the sodium neccisary to keep your electrolytes in balance.

Water and salt. You need them both.
Do you know that the salt content (percentage), in the human blood, is equal with that in the water from the ocean?
You can drink as much as you want, but if you don't eat salt you'll dehydrate.

WATER WATER Everywhere

Sometimes a sugary, caffeine-filled drink might pep you up more, but its effects are nothing to do with reydration.
