In a way I guess it could be. I know that when I start reading, I will devote AT LEAST as much time and energy to it as I would if I was watching TV. The main difference for me is that reading actually makes your brain work harder, where as TV seems to just suck the mind right out of you! You definitely have to stay more focused to read a good book than to watch a good TV program! So, while both may take just as much time away from physical activity, it would seem to me that reading is MORE brain-healthy than TV.

Not unhealthy in the same way, but anyting to excess is not a good idea. If you are reading to the point where your other obligations in life (family, school, whatever) are suffering, then it might be a problem.

It really depends because when you read you could be learning things or it could be recreational, its definatly not going to be as bad as watching tv, if you mean for health reasons, then if you read in bad light your eyes could screw up as if you would watch tv really close

well it may of course be a habit but i definitely dont think that it would be unhealthy. or if it was which i doubt, it would be far less then tv.

No, because even if you are reading romance novels, you are still engaging more of your brain than watching TV. Plus it builds your vocabulary.
