I ask questions because i need helpful answers and i get mean responses and people act like i'm an idiot for asking them.

It's a defense mechanism. I do it myself (not on here) when I talk to people sometimes...I don't really mean to, it just comes out when I feel I'm being attacked. But there's no reason for that on this site. I know what you mean, I see a lot of people acting that way when answering. Ignore them and focus on the ones who are actually trying to help you. And don't ever feel like an idiot, because you are not!

It's because they have way too much time on their hands. Seriously; everybody's quite snippy on here...they'll answer asinine questions with intellectual answers, but on the semi-serious/important questions, they just insult the person asking the question, rather than answering the question.

It makes people feel good to get a slam in on somebody else, even if it is a complete stranger just asking a question.

Never mind, they are not all of that kind! I am quite cynical & sarcastic myself, and yet here I try to answer politely and leave all my jokes to myself or for the questions where they will really suit.

everyone has had that happen to them.
i think it's because they don't have a real answer and they don't want to look stupid so they say mean and hateful things to get the focus off of them.
