My best friend has been lying constantly.. about stupid stuff too. She told two of our younger friends that she likes this boy.. but then she told me and our friend who is a junior that she doesn't like him. That's just an example of one thing.. she's said other stupid lies too. I've asked her why she keeps lying.. and she says "I dunno". What should I do now?

Obviously, your friend is going through a tough time in her life right now. If you're really her friend, you should help her in any way that you can, say the truth if you're around her when she's lying or keep reminding her to. Maybe you could sort of reward her for telling the truth. In the mean time, you both should see a counselor or someone else who you can trust with experience in this matter.

Avoid her for a week or two, ignore her completely. After that time period, tell her if she keeps lying that time of distance will become permanent. Maybe that will give her a wake up call and she'll realize the importance of honesty in a friendship.

i too have a liar for a friend and it bums me out each time i talk to her...in fact i hardly speak to her anymore because I hate feeling like an idoiot. Does she really think that I am that stupid for believing her? I guess he does if I don't confront her.
So i try to avoid her at all costs...and NEVER confront a liar...they can lie thier way out of anything and make you look the loser instead.

Talk to her about lieing, friends are very important, but dont you want your friend to be truthful to you? Maybe she is having problems a home or some thing, but try to talk to her and tell her it is wrong to lie to your friends, and really try to find out why it is she is lieing.

As long as she does not lie to you, ignore it. If she does lie to you tell her that it's not right and you will not be Friends with someone who lies to them.
