Unfortunately business class wasn't available. Is economy ok?

I was hoping to use frequent flyer points. I have enough, but I guess I'll still have them after the trip!

Sure it is okay. the best way to travel is always economy because you save plenty of money versus if you travel in business class your airfare will be double than what it is in economy.

Vote for me, please.

It is not so bad. Flying that route in an ANA 777 would be the best scenario. Any 777 would be the second best. An upgraded 747 by United would also be good. ANA service is the best, especially if you have children. I have flown NRT-SFO, NRT-DET, and NRT-ATL in economy class. If you have the individual TV monitors, it makes things just a bit better. If you can get the economy plus seats, that would be cool.

The only downside of the 777 is that is has blocks of five seats in the middle of economy class.. if you look at the seat map it's like this:

UU UUUUU UU
UU UUUUU UU
UU UUUUU UU

So if the flight is full you could end up with two people on each side of you for 13 hours.

On the flip side, I think that the seats on either side of the cabin are pretty good, and the C and G seats by the bulkhead (i.e. the aisle seats on the center section) have awesome legroom.

yes economy is o.k. its not the best way to travel for long flight because its not as comfortable as first. i work or the airline company and traveling first is the best but then if theres no sit then flying is economy is the second option. you have other option too, try EWR-IAH-NRT if you want business all the way.

I have taken the Continental flight from Newark to Tokyo several times. It's a long trip, but on the 777 ok. The food isn't so good, maybe check out your local deli and take some goodies along, just in case............
