As da name ATIF ASLAM gets familiar it continues to enlighten, cogitaten provoke people n many young hearted fans tht r devoted to him,to dwell on his renowned artistry n unorthodox presence. The more u listen 2 him da more we want 2 hear him n not only about his major contribution 2 the WORLD OF MUSIK but also his personal hardships n successes which made him what he is 2day
This young lad currently aged 21 was born on 12th march1983 in WAZIRABAD,Gujranwala,a fertile land tht has given birth to lot of renowned personalitiesof PAK especially MUNNO BHAI n ATAUL HAQ QASMI n amongst them an amateur artist ATIF himself.
ATIF's kindergarten began at KIMBERLAY HALL SCHOOL in Lahore. He was a cute n was every teacher's favorite ideal student who topped his class ever since he stepped into school. His toys included a small bat n some cars 2 play wdh.He had to face his first stage fright in 1st grade at fancy dress show where kids dressed up like the persons they want to be n he dressed up like da legendary IMRAN KHAN.Frm tht point CRICKET became his passionate game n his fast growing obsession. He never got xausted while playing CRICKET.At tht age he was not aware of MUSIKn he moved on, dreaming of becoming one of PAKISTANI leading right arm fast bowler.
At the age of 9 in 1991 ATIF n his family moved 2 RAWALPINDI where he continued his education at St.PAULS school,he started leading school cricket team for various matches in city n turned 2 b an xceptional player. He was a talented athlete but his ongoing passion for CRICKET was his favorite sport at its peak.He practiced many hours in a day thts y his education was badly affected. He completed his 10 by passing marks n then they returned 2 LAHORE .He gained a lot of popularity in the matches which were held in RAMADAN NIGHTS.
His attentions were diverting frm education n he was no more da best student of his class.ATIF commenced his higher education frm PAF COLL.again representing his kol. cricket team.PAF got great memories frm ATIF.All of his friends used 2 tease the koll.girls like other boys but some how he was a famous guy among GIRLS b/c of cricket.
At tht point he has no interest in MUSIK his elder BRO has collection of more then 7000 songs intro him 2 all genres of musik.Unconciously he developed a taste of musik n quitly started to sing around among st his friends n family members. He had good control over his voice.
NUSRAT FATEH ALI KHAN n KISHORE gi were an inspiration for him. Therefore one day he was singing the song of KISHORE KUMAR in an empty room.As the voice was bouncing back to him,he was enjoying n tht gives him more energy. Then later on first twist came when in 1998 at PAF,ATIF's frinds forced n encouraged him to participate in a singing competetion on an INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION FUNCTION.Later on ATIF performed there and the people there were astonished by his voice n they didn't think tht this boy will be the next voice of PAKISTAN.
After HSC he got admission in PICS(Pakistan Institute of Computer Science) n at tht time he had to control on three thing his education, dying CRICKET craze n an emerging talent of MUSIK.Again his singing was put at test at his KOLL.singing competetion, whch consisted of 8 participants. He sang DUUR of STRINGS n the people gathered there were again shocked frm this emerging talent of PAKISTAN n beyond any shadow of doubt he was the winner tht night. He was becoming one of the famous student as he was winning various SINGING COMPETETIONS.
During his koll.years he met with GOHER MUMTAZ who possessed a nice personality n he is also a gem of PAK.He was a very talented GUITARIST n then they decide to make duo.
One day they wre sitting on the koll.steps n then they composed the song ADDAT.Then they recorded this song n then they made the band JAL whch meant by WATER in urdu .The main theme behind this band was tht the WATER is an essential source of living.
JAL registered their website n upload thier song on web.The download counter showed some amzing results.UMAR ANWAR during the stage offered him to make the VIDEO of ADDAT.His famaily n thier friends were xpecting this song to have goood response on air but they were wrong as this song was the soooper dooper hit n it broke the records of JUNOOON,STRINGS for being no.1 for many weeks. After some clahses wdh GOHER(on the basis of MUSIK)he broke the band n released his first SOLO ALBUM called as JAL PARI.This was the most selling album of 2004 in PAKISTAN n still is a major sell out in all stores.
By the grace of GOD our star ATIF has achieved a lot in his very short span of his career. He has a long way to go n we wish him the best of his luck n health.

Atif Aslam (Urdu: عاطف اسلم) is a Pakistani musician. He was born in Wazirabad, Gujranwala on March 12th, 1983 and was educated in Lahore and Rawalpindi.
Atif attended High School at PAF College Lahore, where he played cricket and became interested in music. He attended PICS (Punjab Institute of Computer Science) to do his Bachelors in Computer Science (BCs). It was at PICS Lahore that he met guitarist and talented, young composer (like himself), Gohar Mumtaz. The two became friends and started jamming together. This lead to performances at their college and at various restaurants eventually pushing the pair into finding a name for their subtly formed band, which they duly named "Jal" - which means Water - (the issue of which musician was truly responsible for the name “Jal” is still disputed).
Working together, the pair recorded the song Aadat (with the help of Salman Albert, amongst other established and accomplished Pakistani musicians). It became popular on a host of promotional Pakistani music websites. The song was also played on such Pakistani radio stations as FM100 and FM105. The music video for Aadat was shot one day in a warehouse in Karachi. On the base of this one song, “Jal” began their tour of Pakistan—such was the strength of “Aadat”. However, whilst on tour, personal problems led to a verbal bust-up resulting in an unannounced and indefinite hiatus, during which Atif launched his solo career.the reason behind the split of band Is atif wants has some Problem with Musical Tours Money ......
Atif Aslam, after leaving Jal, released a new solo album, Jal Pari (ironically meaning "Mermaid") which was a big hit. The Songs Woh Lamhey, Dil Haarey and few others were smash hits on both Pakistani radio stations and Music Channels. As both the Jal, “Aadat”, and Atif’s album, Jalpari, shared certain tracks (such as “Aadat”, “Bheegi Yaadein/Wo Lamhey”, “Ankhon se”) an unofficial war over rights began which resulted in both sides claiming to possess hard proof to support their respective claims (that, they alone owned the concerned songs). The hype this feud gave to both Atif and the new Jal was extraordinary and split the musical nation with the fans of each side backing their respective favourite. He has a dog named Bablu.
Whilst the drama of lyrics & composition ownership was rolling on in Pakistan, Atif Aslam's soulful voice crossed the border over into India when Bollywood director Mahesh Bhatt called Atif Aslam to seek his consent to include "Woh Lamhey" in the soundtrack of his new motion picture, Zeher (2005). The song (especially the remix version) became a huge hit & dominated airplay on almost all major FM stations throughout India for a period of 6-8 months. This pattern of a slow playback song by Atif in the movie, supplemented by a remix version released for radio airplay was to become standard procedure with Atif’s songs on the Indian market.
Atif has continued to grow and is becoming a bollywood playback singer in great demand at such a young age, with very few OSTs to his name. He recorded a song for the movie Kalyug, entitled 'Juda Hokey Bhi' - a slight variation of the ever famous Aadat song. Like with “Wo Lamhey / Bheegi Yaadein”, a slow version became the theme for the movie and part of the official soundtrack, whilst a remixed version was released to hit the radio stations and desi clubs worldwide.
After recording for Kalyug, a Pakistani director in Hollywood contacted Atif and within very little time, Atif recorded three songs for that same director’s Hollywood movie, 'Man Push Cart' and was rewarded with a small cameo role in the movie itself! Bubble Choles.
All of a sudden, after a relatively quiet summer, Atif re-emerged in the subcontinent with a new track, “Tere Bin” (translation: [Without You]) for the Bollywood Movie, Bas Ek Pal. Yet again, the song was remixed and as expected it became popular in a very short amount of time. Once again, Atif’s voice is electrifying the airwaves on radio stations throughout the subcontinent. The song "Tere Bin" has become a sensational hit, going at number #1 on all Pakistani/Indian music sites.
In between the copyright war and media war with Gohar ( Jal ) and recording Bollywood songs, Atif had been touring the world and working on his new album.
Atif visited various countries in Asia, Europe & The Americas which include Pakistan, India, UAE, UK, Canada , australia & America —taking his sound to the “pardesi” (expatriates of the subcontinent) worldwide. Atif’s new album has been entitled 'Hangami Halaat' and is due to be released in the summer of 2006.
