When you invade his country illegally, kill his family and friends, steal his country's national resources, and make life far more miserable than it was under any dictator?
And all at the barrel of a gun?
Can someone explain that to me?

Oh and for those of you who will cut and past those tired old "X many schools have been built and this much of the country has electricity blah, blah blah... you can save it. The fact is for every 40 schools destroyed by americans in this war, one is rebuilt. Usually, by the U.N., NOT by americans.
And that is the ratio of damage to repair at this point.
And the Iraqi's know it and see it on a daily basis. That is why the "insurgency" (the real name for these people is FREEDOM FIGHTER by the way.) gains strength every single day.
And that is why, like Vietnam, the US will go running home with it's tail stuck between it's legs...

buzzy,
you say I'm a "liar". Ok, fine, PROVE it.
I can back my points up with facts, and since you have made NO rebuttal, only childish namecalling, I'm guessing that you not only have no facts, but no starting point either.
In essence, you know I'm right, but are too politically and intellectually cowardly to admit it.
You have my sympathy, and my thanks. I'm OH so thankful that I'm not you...

350000 Iraqi died by violence in Iraq.before the war. Why would you take Saddam's side?. Also we did not run from Vietnam, we were forced to leave because politics by the liberals, made it impossible to continue the war as it encouraged the Vietnamese to fight on. Vietnam War stop the aggression of communism and possibly saved Japan, Philippians. Indonesia and Formosa, and possibly Australia from the communist. You should convince a man that a democracy is a good thing because democracies do not fight democracies, and that there is a lot less violence inside a democracy. In 75 years 90% of the world will be some sort of democracy, even China.

you would show him the immigration paperwork showing how many of his people did everything they could to leave his country , you would show him the numbers on how less people are dying today than when he was in charge , you would organize for the people to vote and see if they would come out , you would show him the list of coutries that support the war . you would show him pictures of his own people destroying his statue , you would show him pictures of all the women that were beaten on a daily basis and still are but not as much . you say you have sources but failed to put up any links to your 40 schools to one theory or the ratios of damage to repair . I would very much like to see a credible source showing for every 40 schools destroyed the military does nothing and the un puts one up , of course I would I would also like to see a world were people support each other's own people and leaders , but both are impossible

You need to view democracy in different angels and countries. Democracy is complex depending on how much power you have to control and impose it to another mass society and country.
Democracy cannot be used willy- nilly and sometimes change is not always good change. What is happenning now as you can see is that rich countries try to impose democracy to country which has different culture, idelogy, background, system, belief, and problems of its own.
Democarcy should come with limitations and varies to one another. Finally, war is not a solution for a democratic move like in Iraq and Vietnam. It seems that democracy is used to bully another society to maintain status quo, power, wealth, influence and name.

Just what I've been saying all the time.
Only I'm not so optimistic about the last bit.
They got themselves a nice civil war going, doubtlessly with the support of their secret services, and now they will tell us that they can't leave (until the oil is gone).

How come nobody in the White House ever wanted a regime change in Saudi Arabia, certainly a bloody dictatorship???

"...the US will go running home with it's tail stuck between it's legs..."

Thank you for your rant confirming the point I continually make on this "forum": having to carry Weak Sisters like you makes the job of those of us trying to get something done that much harder.

Have you considered making a contribution instead?

You know:

1 - Get a job.
2 - Learn to do something productive.
3 - Start a meaningful relationship.

Don't worry, be happy. You'll like your life a LOT better, I promise!

You give him an American flag and a cool t-shirt.

Seriously, you can't even start to convince a man that democracy is a good thing. Like the great man Bush the lesser said "fool me once, shame on(pause)shame on you....fool me..you can't get fooled again.

We are way better at establishing dictatorships than we are democracies. Got plenty of practice.
So, to talk as though we have been champions of democracy since 1776 is HALLUCINATORY
